Lori Vallow

Lori Vallow was born Lori Norene Cox on June 26, 1973, in San Bernardino, California. She grew up in Southern California and later attended Brigham Young University in Utah. In 1992, Lori married her high school sweetheart, Nelson Yanes, and they had a son named Colby. However, the couple divorced in 1994, and Lori later married Joseph Ryan, with whom she had a daughter named Tylee.

Lori and Joseph eventually divorced, and Lori went on to marry Charles Vallow in 2006. Charles adopted Tylee and also legally adopted Lori's son Colby. The family lived in Arizona, and Charles ran a successful business. However, in 2018, Lori's behavior began to change. She reportedly became involved in a religious group that espoused unconventional beliefs, and she started to distance herself from her friends and family.

In 2019, Lori and Charles separated, and Charles filed for divorce. He claimed that Lori had become obsessed with the religious group and that he feared for his life. In July 2019, Charles was shot and killed by Lori's brother, Alex Cox, during a confrontation at Lori's home in Arizona. Alex claimed self-defense and was not charged.

Around the same time, Lori's two children, JJ and Tylee, disappeared. Lori told friends and family that JJ had gone to live with his grandmother, and that Tylee was attending college in another state. However, this turned out to be untrue, and JJ and Tylee's disappearance became a source of concern for their loved ones.

In November 2019, Lori married Chad Daybell, a writer and publisher who also held unconventional beliefs. The couple moved to Idaho, where they rented a home. However, in December 2019, police began to investigate JJ and Tylee's disappearance, and Lori and Chad were both questioned by law enforcement.

In June 2020, JJ and Tylee's remains were found on Chad's property in Idaho. Lori was arrested and charged with desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime, and contempt of court. Chad was also arrested and charged with concealing or destroying evidence. In August 2020, Lori was additionally charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with the death of her ex-husband, Charles Vallow.

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the case against Lori and Chad is ongoing, and both have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. The case has received widespread media attention due to its complex and disturbing nature, as well as the bizarre religious beliefs and behaviors exhibited by Lori and Chad.
